BREA Co-Director of Recruitment 2023-2024

Year and Major: Elizabeth is a 3rd-year Business Economics Major.

Internship Experience: Intern at Colliers international in Houston, Texas.

What opportunities and knowledge has BREA introduced to you? BREA has given me a fundamental understanding of each nice of the commercial real estate industry. BREA has given me the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals in the industry, create uniquely individualized connections with 1-on-1 mentors, get personalized guidance from experts in the field, gain access to educational commercial real estate courses such as excel and ARGUS, and access to unparalleled networking opportunities. BREA society members were able to engage in a BREA and REAG case competition where we were able to study a property we were assigned and create an Offering Memorandum to present for a mock investment team.

What are your career goals and how has BREA helped you advance towards achieving them? BREA has helped me gain a fundamental understanding of each sector of the commercial real estate industry so that I can be groomed to eventually become a real estate developer down the road. BREA has given me several opportunities, such as allowing me to attend a 3 person dinner with an expert in the industry named Todd Morefield. Todd is the director of acquisitions of MetLife Investment Management, and taught us about what he does and gave us advice about how he got to where he was. It was an incredible experience to be able to talk to a seasoned professional in such a comfortable setting where we could ask questions about anything from grad school to what a day in his life was like and it was tremendously beneficial. Brea’s annual industry night also allowed me to make serval connections that led to 1-on-1 coffee chats with professionals from Bellwhether Asset Management to JLL to American realty advisors. One of these connections led me to apply to the Bellwhether’s women’s mentor program, which I was recently accepted to. From the training courses, to the uniquely individualized networking connections, to the synergistic benefits of team work and experience presenting in front of professionals- BREA has been instrumental in helping me secure an internship this past summer and advance towards my ultimate career goals.”
